DISCUSSION In vivo studies demonstrate that the effects of nandrolone decanoate depended on the assessed muscles, time of treatment, dose and association or not with exercises. Although these observations are generally compatible with the notion that nandrolone decanoate produces hypertrophy through activation of satellite cells, the fact that the effects are of a relatively small degree does raise concerns about the true effects of this substance on the muscle fiber morphology.
